What the Half-Life 2 Browser Port Is
The site runs a WebAssembly build of Valve’s Source engine, compiled with Emscripten, so Half-Life 2 (2004) runs natively in the tab rather than streaming from a cloud server. Its menu offers the Half-Life 2 campaign, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and a web terminal.
It is unofficial and not made by Valve, and the site does not say where its engine code comes from. The better-known HL2 port from June 2026, hl2.slqnt.dev, now returns a 404 error, so this is one of the few HL2 browser versions still online.
How to Play Half-Life 2 in Your Browser
- 1Open lucasigel.com/hl2 in desktop Chrome or Edge. Firefox support is marked experimental.
- 2Choose Half-Life 2 for the campaign or Deathmatch for multiplayer, and wait for the first load.
- 3Click the game to lock the mouse; use the fullscreen button for the best view.

Two windows, one PC
To run two players on one computer, open the second in a different browser profile or browser. Separate GPU processes run nearly twice as fast.

The June 2026 port by slqnt returned a 404 error when we checked on October 11, 2026. lucasigel.com/hl2 is still online.
Why does Half-Life 2 open in a new tab?
The port relies on browser isolation features that are not available inside another site, so we link to it directly.
